    • Topic 8 Reflection and Feedback
      • Giving Peer Portfolio Feedback; Professor Feedback: Thanks for your excellent work with the peer reviews! Your feedback to Amy C. and Stephanie was constructive feedback.
    • Topic 9 Reflection: next gen portfolio - For me, I think tiered access is very important. I love being able to make some artifacts owner-accessible only so I can store everything together instead of having to have a second storage site for personal interest items. Also, ease-of-use is very important even if that ease is managed through a Google search and information from outside the portfolio site. Given my past, I am used to not having standard questions that are easily answered and therefore are very comfortable with asking the Internet universe questions about how to do what I want in a program. Some people may be more uncomfortable with having to seek info away from the FAQ and tutorial sections of the site but I think that is a skill that students should learn that can be applied to many settings including evaluating information and creating tutorials of their own. As far as evaluations and managing aggregate information, I feel that a focus on a personal portfolio will have a different emphasis than an institutional focus would. I like the idea of taking digital notes to remember or explore things as is demonstrated in my portfolio by my "websites and software to remember or explore" page. I think having it visible to all visitors opens the door to others who may be interested in similar items as well as inviting feedback from others who have already explored those or similar items. My portfolio (and really any portfolio) is part scrapbook - looking through the pages triggers memories and ideas past, present, and future! Just like my daughter reconnected with her past when I gave her an old photo album, I reconnect to my internship period when I review that page in my portfolio and even remember more items that I can include to make it represent my experiences more fully. I think my portfolio has most if not all aspects that are necessary for my perfect portfolio. To make it better, I would like the portability aspect to be improved because sometimes Internet is not available or device connections are too difficult to set up for temporary access.
    • Final Reflective Essay and Feedback: I really enjoyed reading your essay. You really had quite a journey and course load this semester! I do appreciate your comments on assigning peer reviews. I will take that into full consideration the next time I teach this course. Your growth and development will continue ... along with your ePortfolio journey!
    • Eportfolio Final Feedback: Thanks for your exemplary work on your ePortfolio. All reflections clearly describe growth, achievement and accomplishments, and include goals for continued learning (long and short term). All reflections illustrate the ability to effectively critique work and provide suggestions for constructive practical alternatives. All of the photographs, concept maps, spreadsheets, graphics, audio and/or video files enhance understanding of concepts, ideas and relationships, create interest, and are appropriate for the chosen purpose. Accessibility requirements using alternate text for graphics are included in web-based portfolios. All audio and/or video files are edited with proper voice projection, appropriate language, and clear delivery. The navigation links are intuitive. The various parts of the portfolio are labeled, clearly organized and allow the reader to easily locate an artifact and move to related pages or a different section. All external links connect to the appropriate website or file. The ePortfolio is easy to read. Fonts and type size vary appropriately for headings, sub-headings and text. Use of font styles (italic, bold, underline) is consistent and improves readability. Horizontal and vertical white space alignments are used appropriately to organize content. Color of background, fonts, and links enhance the readability and aesthetic quality, and are used consistently throughout the ePortfolio. All artifacts are accompanied by a caption that clearly explains the importance of the item including title, author, and date.

LM/CE 5040 - Integrating Technology in the School - Final Grade: A (97.5)
    • Week 1: Online courses are so very convenient for busy adult learners, but many students (especially those of us of a certain age) miss the interpersonal connections we made in face-to-face classes. This week, you will create a video in the form of a self-introduction as a means of getting acquainted with your classmates and instructors.
      • Video Tools; Personal Reflection; Feedback from Professors:
        • The first week of the course is a chance to get an overview of the material along with an idea of the assignments. Your reflection was very strong (definitely worth 10 points) incorporating the objective of creating a video as an introduction, selecting a tool, making a script, and thinking through the process along with personal thoughts/learning on the assignment. The video was meant to give your fellow students, and us too, a sense of who you are since the format is online only and a technology course.
    • Week 2: Many elementary schools incorporate a 100th day celebration into their school calendar. This is a great way to integrate basic math concepts into other parts of the curriculum. This week you are given a scenario which focuses on the creation of a single podcast.
      • Audio Tools; Personal Reflection; Feedback from Professors
        • Very creative use of 100 days mysteries! Love "Ears turned on" Watch the time limit. Excellent, detailed reflection on the learning objective for students. We are glad you are feeling more comfortable with this week's assignment.
          Great job!
          Elaine & JoAnn
    • Week 3: Most schools have a Fall Open House. This is a great opportunity for the Library Media Specialist and the Education Technology Integrator to work with other colleagues in the school to create a presentation that features the larger school community. It is always beneficial to be involved in school-wide activities that showcase your skills and abilities.
      • Presentation Tools; Personal Reflection; Feedback from Professors:
        • Project Comments: We like all the points of collaboration throughout the entire process - not working in a vacuum. Good idea about posting it in a newsletter or website. Prezi-very effective at presenting a lot of info.
          Nice Job this week!
          JoAnn and Elaine
    • Week 4: In the age of Web 2.0 there is an increasing number of primary source materials on the web - many of these are required in order to do good research. This week we will explore several Research tools and do a SWOT analysis in order to make an informed recommendation.
      • Research Tools; Personal Reflection; Feedback from Professors:
        • Comments: Digital History is a great choice! Your SWOT analysis provided great justification for your selection.
Great idea - provide training to teachers which could be very rudimentary or as extensive as team-teaching while classes are using the resources. Your reflection and the explanation of how you reach out to teachers to collaborate is exemplar.
          Great job!
          Elaine & JoAnn
    • Week 5: As a School Library Media Specialist and/or Education Technology Integrator you need to be aware of tools that allow students, teachers, and administrators to reach beyond the boundaries of your local school.
      • Collaboration Tools; Personal Reflection; Feedback from Professors:
        • Scenario Comments: Edmodo is a good choice based on your criteria of a collaborative tool in a secure setting. Great story between Massachusetts and Ohio schools that illustrates how you might use this tool. Wonderful idea for students to make a video of a day in their lives. Great conclusion about the tools that are available to support this project.
You do get how this collaboration piece works - “As the teachers work together on planning the lessons, I support their vision by exploring how the Web 2.0 tool can meet the expectations of their thinking and setting up trainings and tutorials for the teachers and students. “ - well said!
Your personal reflection shows how ongoing learning will come in handy when you may least expect it.
          Good week.
          JoAnn and Elaine
    • Week 6: As you already know, new tools are constantly being purchased. One of your roles as a technology leader is to help others effectively use these tools. This week we will explore ways to design professional development opportunities.
      • Professional Development and Leadership; Personal Reflection; Feedback from Professors:
        • Great to compare Apps to IEP - a concept most teachers are familiar with. Info is very useful to teachers - teaching tips and help in the classroom. Professional layout and design. Love the Blooms link! Excellent idea to use colleagues from other schools as a source of information.
Obviously you have done a lot of workshops - your comments about reaching all participants is spot on! The idea of using a wiki to add info and resources is a fabulous tool for after the workshop.
          Good work this week.
          JoAnn and Elaine
    • Week 7: This is your chance to make up a Scenario you think you might encounter as either a School Librarian, Education Technology Integrator, or both. Select the grade level and collaborate with your counterpart in order to provide an effective learning outcome for the students. Select a Web 2.0 Tool that will suit the needs of the Project. It needs to be a Web 2.0 tool you have not already used for a Scenario. Be sure that the focus is not on the technology tool itself, but on the learning outcomes of the scenario.
      • You Choose: Surprise Us!; Personal Reflection; Feedback from Professors:
        • Voki - fabulous tool to include the non-verbal autistic student, along with other students such as shy,ESL or students with behavior issues. The use of this tool has the ability to enable collaboration across grade levels with a variety of specialists! Great point - “I should plan to be at the viewings to show encouragement and share in the celebrations.” Kudo’s to you - “I try to find ways to ensure a positive experience for every ability and I think using VOKI is a way to do that with short presentations by students to their classmates. “ WOW! Good work this week - you are creative!
          Good job!
          Elaine & JoAnn
    • Week 8: We have covered a lot of technology tools and possible uses for them in our Scenarios in this class. One of the biggest obstacles when working with anything to do with technology is the high rate of change. In the context of the life of a technology tool – 18 to 36 months is an entire lifecycle. With change at this fast pace, it is essential that you develop a Personal Learning Network to keep yourself current. Furthermore, in your role as a School Librarian or Education Technology Integrator keeping current is critical to being effective in your role. Write a paper outlining your plan for developing your own Personal Learning Network for keeping current with technology.
      • Personal Learning Network Plan; Feedback from Professors:
        • Scenario Comments: “I think the sharing takes the learning to another level - just as we would expect a student who had mastered information to be able to share it so another could learn, we need to share as well.” Spot on!
We like, "I love these resources because I can access them when it is convenient for me" - agreed a great feature of webinars.
As far as access to the materials and info in Moodle - grab it now - as it will get archived sooner than later.
          Have a great weekend.
          JoAnn and Elaine
    • Week 9: Using the following Prompt, write a paper reflecting on the assigned reading - 2013 Horizon Report for K-12.As the school library media specialist or educational technology integrator, how would you use the data from this report to impact technology integration in your school?
This essay should be a personal reflection on your ideas for technology integration and collaboration based on concepts you have learned during this course. You may want to refer back to your Unit 1 Essay “What I hope to learn”.
      • Personal Reflection; Feedback from Professors:You have a good handle on cloud and mobile computing, using them to their full potential. We like your thoughts on not focusing so much on the tool, but looking for ways to enhance student learning by using the tool in an educational way. Your comment “finding ways to spearhead initial adventures into the newest technology while trying to work through the obstacles that will be presented by naysayers and by the technology itself” is very insightful. Being prepared to “ .. . impact technology integration in my future school by being prepared to fully implement cloud-computing and mobile learning while informing stakeholders on learning analytics and open content as well as introducing and spurring excitement about 3D printing and virtual/remote laboratories” Excellent! We do need to be advocates and demonstrate how new tools can be used.

You have developed a good grasp of the role of the LMS/TI - user, leader, teacher, and advocate for students.
        Good work.
        Elaine & JoAnn

      • Feedback from Professor: Your flipped lesson shows that you have researched how to successfully bring in other experts and teachers' ideas into your own (future) classroom. BrainpopJr is one of my all time favorite websites. Not only is it great for flipping your classroom, it is aligned to the Common Core Standards. Teachers Pay Teachers is also another great resource to incorporate into your classroom. Great job!
